What is Career Day?

  • Career Day takes your students out of their classrooms and gives them a fun, hands-on experience on what could be their future career. Learn from the best in the entertainment business in the fields of Marketing, Food Operations, Horticulture, Human Resources and more to see what it takes to keep an amusement park operating every day. Below are the seminars that we will be offering:

Marketing Department
Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes in our marketing department? How we get our logo and message on billboards, commercials, and radio?  Find out how one of the largest theme parks in the area markets its business.

Food Operations
Gain a new appreciation for food service jobs, food safety and menu planning.  Students will get a behind-the-scene look at one of the largest food service operations in the amusement park industry.  Meet with food operations staff and hear how they successfully served a picnic group of 20,000+ people in one-day!

Human Resources
Gain an understanding of the challenges that the Kings Island Human Resources Department faces in staffing 4,000 seasonal employees.  Employment opportunities, training, and interviewing skills will be discussed. 

Horticulture
Learn the important part that horticulture plays in the park atmosphere at Kings Island.  Discuss various types of work performed by the landscape crews all season long, and what it takes to keep the park looking beautiful.

Engineering
Hear first hand from the designer of The Beast, his experience creating the legendary roller coaster.  Learn what it takes to be an engineer, and how you get to where he is today.

Fire & Safety
Hear from one of our Fire & Safety professionals as they talk about their job duties on a day to day basis.  How they prepare and keep thousand of guests safe.

Daily Operations
How do we keep our park clean, safe and running efficiently?  Learn how our park operates on a daily basis and how much pre-planning and scheduling it takes.

Who should experience Career Day?

  • Any student interested in learning about the different career paths at Kings Island, and how they relate to other real world jobs. 

Does my group have to register and pay in advance?

  • Due to the nature of our programs, registration and payment must be made at least 14 days in advance.  Please complete the online informational form located at the bottom of this page to express your interest in the event and specific seminars. 

When do sessions take place?

  • Depending on which seminar you register for, each has its own designated time. Each session will last between 30 and 45 minutes.

How many tickets do I order?

  • We do not issue refunds or rainchecks, so please do not order tickets for students who may have scheduling conflicts. If you need to purchase additional tickets after your order has been placed, please contact your Kings Island Representative.

How much does Career Day cost and who gets free admission?

  • Admission ticket pricing for Career Day 2012 TBD.
  • Groups are eligible to receive one complimentary ticket for every 15 tickets purchased.  The complementary tickets should be used for teachers and/or chaperones. 
  • Season pass holders can use their season passes for entry into the park, however we do ask that season passes be processed prior to their Career Day visit.  Bus drivers get in free by presenting their valid CDL driver’s license at Guest Relations.
  • Unfortunately career day sessions are only offered on these specific dates.

  • 1 Free Picnic Meal Teacher/Chaperone ticket per 15 paid tickets
  • NO FREE TICKET WITH PIZZA VOUCHERS, DRINK WRISTBANDS,OR COMBO DEAL

Picnic Baskets and sack lunches are allowed in the park on these dates ONLY.  We allow students with sack lunches to utilize the picnic area and Skyline Express Patio area. 

All meals can be ordered when you order your admission tickets. Please make sure that you are ordering enough meal vouchers for your entire group, even if some of your students are using their season pass for entry into the park. Purchasing meal tickets in advance will ensure that all your students eat a meal during the day.

What else do I need to know?

  • Kings Island parking lot opens at 9:00 am. Operating hours for Career Days are 10am - 10pm.
  • Due to the educational nature of this program, there may be select rides, food locations, games and merchandise locations that will not be open, or may open later in the day.
  • A preliminary list of operating rides is as follows: Windseeker, Diamondback, Firehawk, Delirum, Drop Tower, Invertigo, Racer, Beast, Flight of Fear, Viking Fury, Dodgems, Eiffel Tower, Vortex, Adventure Express, Carousel, The Crypt, Zephyr, Congo Falls (weather permitting) and Flight Deck.
  • PLEASE REMEMBER: All school policies are in effect at the park, including any and all rules pertaining to smoking, drugs and alcohol.
